About Marcel

More than 20 years leading organizations through growth, change, and complexity.

The consulting practice is built on a simple premise: the best advice comes from people who have actually done the work.

The Background

Marcel Wright's career began in human resources — directing the HR function for more than 700 employees at Adventist Healthcare and Potomac Ridge Behavioral Health. That foundation shaped everything that followed. Understanding how organizations attract, develop, and retain talent — and how workforce dynamics drive or undermine performance — became a lens he carried into every executive role.

From HR, Marcel moved into operational and executive leadership, taking on progressively complex roles across healthcare and behavioral health. He led the turnaround of a psychiatric unit at Adventist Healthcare Shady Grove — moving it from a $3 million loss to a $3 million gain. He served as a senior executive at Access TeleCare, leading a national network of more than 300 psychiatrists and nurse practitioners and consistently exceeding EBITDA targets. At the Lourie Center, he converted a $630,000 deficit into a $180,000 surplus while cutting disengaged employees nearly in half.

Along the way, he led a full hospital integration — bringing a freestanding psychiatric facility into a 444-bed acute care medical center — and built service lines, redesigned operating models, and guided leadership teams through the kind of change that most organizations find genuinely difficult.

Marcel is particularly passionate about health inequities and the organizations that serve disenfranchised communities — the community mental health centers, residential programs, and nonprofit human services providers doing essential work, often with limited resources and significant operational complexity. Much of his career has been spent in exactly these environments, and that experience informs both the clients he is drawn to and the depth he brings to their challenges.

That commitment extends beyond consulting. Marcel serves on the board of Zero to Three, a national advocacy and service organization focused on early childhood development — work that reflects his belief that strong communities are built from the earliest years of life.

Outside of work, Marcel is a proud father of two, a sports fanatic, and someone who takes community seriously — values that show up in the way he approaches his work and the clients he chooses to serve.

The consulting practice draws directly on that experience. Marcel works with executives and leadership teams who are navigating the same challenges he has spent two decades solving — and who want an advisor who has been in the room, not just studied it.

How He Works

01

Strategy is only as good as your ability to execute it.

Most organizations don't fail for lack of ideas. They fail because the gap between strategy and execution never closes. Every engagement is oriented toward that gap — building the operational infrastructure, accountability systems, and leadership alignment that turn plans into results.

02

People are the core of organizational performance.

Workforce strategy, leadership development, and culture are not soft topics. They are the primary drivers of whether an organization performs or underperforms. Marcel brings an unusually deep HR and people-leadership background to every engagement — not as a separate workstream, but as a core lens.

03

The work has to be honest before it can be useful.

Effective consulting requires a willingness to name what is actually happening — not what leadership wants to hear. Marcel's approach is direct, data-grounded, and focused on the real drivers of performance, not the comfortable ones.

Sector Expertise

Marcel's deepest experience is in healthcare, behavioral health, and human services-related fields — including inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, acute care, telehealth, community mental health, residential services, and nonprofit human services. He is particularly drawn to organizations serving disenfranchised communities and working to address health inequities, where strong operational and financial leadership can directly expand access and impact. He also works with organizations outside these sectors where the operational, financial, or leadership challenges align with his core capabilities.
